GONG EMERGE UNPLUGGED A Night of Local Talent and Musical Legacy Wollongong, NSW —

This August, the iconic Golden Age Theatre will be transformed into an intimate acoustic haven as it hosts Gong Emerge Unplugged—a powerful celebration of Wollongong’s emerging artists and its rich musical heritage.

Taking place Wednesday 27th August, this special event combines stripped-back live performances with a rare Wollongong Music History Expo, featuring original memorabilia and artefacts from the Illawarra scene spanning the 1970s to early 2000s.

Styled in the spirit of MTV Unplugged, the night will feature full video production, ambient lighting, and curated stage design—setting the tone for a deeply personal experience with some of the region’s most promising singer-songwriters.
