Ava Fahey  - Episode 5

Ava Fahey is a Australian singer-songwriter whose love for heartfelt lyricism and acoustic sound shines through in her music. The shift from singing covers at a local library to finally revealing her originals to the world has been beautifully complex, but well and truly worth it. Ava Fahey’s debut single ‘Leave’ released in November 2024, and she is keen to record and release as many songs as time and emotions and friends will allow.

Next Chapter :

Ava Fahey steps into The Next Chapter with a quiet honesty that makes it clear music has never been a choice so much as a constant presence in her life. From childhood singing and school performances to writing her own material after leaving school, her journey has grown out of instinct and emotion. What began as a private outlet for “big feelings” slowly expanded into sharing songs with friends, then finding the courage to take them to a stage.

Her songwriting is deeply personal and usually begins with lyrics. Early songs arrived in sudden bursts, but over the past year she has learned to sit with ideas, revisit voice memos, and patiently shape them into something finished. It’s a process built as much on persistence as inspiration, trusting the right words and chords will come with time.

As a musician, Ava Fahey has become more confident in her identity. Moving from covers to original work marked a turning point, as did learning to embrace her natural voice rather than comparing it to what she thought it should be. That shift has allowed her to lean into her strengths and develop a sound that feels genuine and grounded.

Her influences reflect that openness. She draws from classic folk storytellers like Joni Mitchell and Cat Stevens, contemporary writers such as Taylor Swift and Lizzy McAlpine, and the country music she grew up with, particularly The Dixie Chicks. The mix shapes a style that balances vulnerability, melody, and narrative.

The song she shared during the session captures that intersection of feeling and self-discovery.

Written recently, it explores the tension between the life we expect to follow and the moment we realise we have the power to shape it ourselves. It sits between uncertainty and self-definition, acknowledging how confronting and exciting that shift can be.

At the heart of Ava Fahey’s work is connection. Her goal is simple but deeply felt: to create music that reaches people in the same way her favourite artists have reached her. It isn’t about scale or numbers, but about depth and resonance.

Being part of The Next Chapter felt natural to her. The environment offered a rare sense of comfort, a place where she could arrive, settle in, and play without pressure. That ease carried into her performance and conversation, revealing an artist still growing, still learning, and fully committed to the path unfolding in front of her.
